Being a college student isn’t all parties, studies and beer pong; particularly when it’s on the subject of being an MBA student. What you wear around school can be fun and exotic. What about when you’re not in a schoolroom setting?
In a Clinical Setting
While bending over a patient’s open wound, having your dangly earring fall into the mix (or mess) could possibly be looked at as less than professional. For that reason, and many others, jewelry and should be held to a minimum well in clinical settings during your time as an MBA student. Wedding rings are of course allowed and will be covered with gloves any ways. If you wear your engagement ring along with your wedding band and it resembles the rock of Gibraltar, you might want to reconsider. If it tears the glove you’re going to have more problems than you’re probably prepared for. Washing your hands about 100 times a day also discourages the wearing of complicated rings and bracelets.
Jenson george has a great selection of low profile jewelry.
The MBA Student Interview
Once again wedding rings are fine. Take it easy on the body (face) piercings, even though they are gradually being accepted into the professional world there still relatively taboo when it comes to interviews (unless you’re applying for work in a piercing parlor or tattoo parlor) A simple, nice fitting watch with no alarms set to go off (it’s almost as bad as your cell phone going off in the middle of an interview), and as far as class rings go—these are optional. Some see them as simple support for school others see them as slightly and snobbish and in your face. Just take it under advisement.
A simple rule of thumb… A waterproof watch, tiny earrings, and an extremely short, secure necklace should do it. Less is more.
